The royal tasting of Champagne

Hey, wine lovers, here we come——thirsty glutton. This time, we will change our style a little. Why??? Because something behind my back pushes me to tell you a great secret!! That’s it---The royal tasting of Champagne in the evening of 17 November in Bordeaux. This event took place at Millésima (a famous negociant) I know exactly that you could hardly contain your excitement. Me too, even though I have already enjoyed it. OK, let’s begin right now.
It was really a great event. The decoration of the salon and the lights make everyone like a prince or a princess. However, the leading role is not these princes or princesses, but the shining liquid---CHAMPAGNE! If you were present, you would be surprised by the presence of exhibitors. It seems almost all the champagnes have been here to show you their “works”! Why we stand here just for looking, it’s time to move.

The first one impressed me was the Moët&Chandon 1995. What a fantastic flavor!! You may smell strongly the odor of caramel and the toast. The Chardonnay gives the strength to this bottle and makes this one of 1995 be classic and powerful. When you let it flow around your mouth, you can feel a great balance between the sweet and acid. The pinot noir which perform elegantly in this bottle gives a unique personality and a good agreement of structure for wine.
The next station is at Veuve Cliquot where we find 2 bottles interesting. We’ve met a sommelier with a great passion who explained all about Le Grande Dame 1996. So he made me falling in love with it. With a special bottle in black, it keeps its mystique. The name of this bottle has showed us that he is unique and is so different---Le Grand Dame. This Dame shows a great harmony between power and elegance. Its power is the same as the spirit of the hostess of this chateau. It has a rich and intense flavor, like the toast and the mineral. The second wine is due to the vintage 2002. Carrying with a special odor of coco, it shows the sweet.

Next stop should be the dream. Right, it’s the Don Pérignon 2000. Why the god says for the 2000 is just open to the one who have the ticket? Nevertheless, we are the “lucky dogs” though we haven’t the ticket. Upstairs, matching the unique lights, decorated by the luxury, wasn’t it a pearl?! Keeping a balanced structure, reserving a great flavor, are its outstanding characteristics. In the mouth, the attack is direct so that I could hardly control myself. It brings me a little feeling of vegetable world and be so fresh.

The last one who made me lost is the one that marked Jacquesson 2002. This one made by Chardonnay and Pinot noir shows its opening and drives it to our mouths. To be so special, it comes out with a clear green. It keeps long, intense, powerful in the mouth. With this millesime, it has been so outstanding!

Ok, we have to stop here. Don’t hurry to leave. With our subject, the important thing is to bring you something that is well matched to the champagnes.
